Resigned from Lefty's Live Music
Effective as of May 1st, I will no longer be a Talent Buyer at Lefty's Live Music. I will continue to work, promote and run all the events I currently have confirmed or a hold date on. However, as of March 24th, 2018, I will not be booking any new shows at Lefty's during the transition from being involved in the daily operations and bookings, to becoming an independent promoter. At this point, I plan on continuing to book and promote some selection show but no longer as an employee of Lefty's Live Music.
I want to make this clear, that I made this decision completely on my own and of my own accord and will continue to support Lefty's Live Music, Erik, Anne and the staff in the reason I've always done it, to make sure that live music happens. The last 30 months or so have been an incredible period in my life, not only reconnecting with old friends but making new ones. I have had the pleasure to help in my small part to bring some great bands to Des Moines and hopefully expose a few new fans to their music. This would not have been possible without the support of Anne, Erik and the staff at Lefty's.
Some of the highlights of the last 2 and half years have been, SWMRS, The Frights, Radkey, For Defiance, Y&T, I Prevail, Agent Orange, The Dickies, The Toasters, The Tossers, Guttermouth, The Atom Age, Henhouse Prowlers, The Ataris, Anthony Gomes, Lauren Sanderson, The Queers, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, Wayne Hancock, Supersuckers, The Hollowmen, Captured by Robots, Mt Eddy, The Vibrators, and countless overs.
So, why am I resigning? Since July of last year, I've been feeling a level of burn out caused by my inability to not take on more than I can handle. I found myself increasingly struggling to keep up my responsibilities not only at Lefty's but at the Axiom Body Piercing Studio. Also, a number of my projects and interests outside of the Axiom and Lefty's have not gotten the attention that they should have. There has been a couple of events in the last year that have affected my ability to focus on events at Lefty's and I increasingly felt that I wasn't given the attention to detail that I'm capable of and I felt that this was the best time to step down.
The biggest difference going forward is that instead of dealing with 10 to 20 events each month, I will at tops only be dealing with 10 to 15 a year and focus on only events that interest me. There will not be the pressure to ensure that Wednesday through Sunday has events booked with support. The Future shows I will be doing will be promoted as Axiom Promotions. This will also allow me to focus on my other projects like my blogs and vlogs on this site and on the Axiom Site, My personal YouTube Channel and the Axiom and Skin Kitchen YouTube Channel, getting the Underground Archives Site back up and countless other things that have taken a sideline over the past few years.
Bands and Agents, if you have already confirmed a show with me or have a hold on a date, I plan on working that event until it is concluded. After May 1st, 2018, if you would like to contact me about possible shows, please feel free to contact me at davoleftys@gmial.com, I will continue to check the email on a regular base and pick and choose what shows I'm interested in doing. All other emails I will forward to the Talent Buying team at Lefty's. If you would like to just contact them directly, you can email them at booking@leftyslivemusic.com
Of course, you will still see me at my second or maybe third home Lefty's Live Music on a regular base. I've put my heart and soul into that place over the years and will continue to support them in any way I can.
Thank you
